Pastor Gloria Edwards is a native of Jamaica West Indies. Her spiritual formation began as a child
in Boscobel, Jamaica. As she matured in the Lord, she was entrusted to lead the youth department in her local church
while she was still a youth. She migrated to the USA as a teenager. Later, when she was a young adult,
she began to attend the Church of God of East Flatbush in 1978 where she received foundational ministry training under
the leadership of Bishop Peter Gayle and his wife Evangelist Emeline Gayle
Pastor Edwards is known to have a profound love for the Lord and an unwavering desire to build God's Kingdom. As
such, she was driven to participate in many areas of ministry at the Church of God of East Flatbush, in various roles,
including: Sunday School Teacher, Director of Children's Ministries, Women's Ministries Secretary, and New York
State Children's Ministries Coordinator. She has a passion for young people which is still evident in her
everyday interactions and her activities in Kingdom building.
Always knowing that the call of God was upon her life, Rev. Edwards was set forth by Bishop Arscott in 1992. She
obtained her formal religious education at New York School of the Bible, and received certification from Nyack. She
later moved forward in her studies to complete ordination requirements with the Church of God denomination. She
also completed her Church of God Chaplaincy Certification in 2006. Fueled by her commitment to
achieve excellence in ministry she continues to model being a lifelong learner. She will graduate
from Blanton Peale's Pastoral Counseling program in 2008 to further prepare her for expanded ministerial duties.
Rev. Edwards had a successful career in the Healthcare for over 22 years. Upon graduating from Westchester
School of Nursing, Rev. Edwards served as a nurse at several hospitals/healthcare agencies before being promoted
to the role of Nursing Administrator. In 2005 she left her career as an Nursing Administrator behind to
pursue full time ministry.
Today, she is an ordained minister of the gospel, and currently serves as an Associate Pastor providing support to the
Senior Pastor of the Church of God of East Flatbush - Bishop R. C. Hugh Nelson. This community of faith is
evolving from a single cell church model into an urban ministry center. Their mission is to boldly present the
life-changing message of Jesus Christ to the New York community and beyond. The church is home to about
1,000 members and ministers to over 2,500 on a weekly basis.
Since accepting God's calling on her life, she has also been blessed to travel throughout the United States of America,
and the Caribbean. She is known to challenge and encourage, men, women, boys and girls to accept Christ under the
authority of the Holy Spirit. She is a visionary leader, with a deliberate focus on developing excellence
in all aspects of ministry. Her teachings help to expand our modern day perceptions and interpretations
of God's word.
Rev. Edwards is married to Chaplain Hugh Edwards; they are the proud parents of five children. Simon, Wayne, Dahlia,
Arlene and Darren.
